Issue # 29 - Are you enjoying your ‘S’ ?

Change is necessary as you move along in your journey in life. Through this you see various signs of growth, progress and advancement. But so often you are afraid to move out of your comfort zone. Why? You are afraid of the fact that you do not know what you are going to get.

So you choose to stay there, the sad thing about that, you miss out in experiencing new things. Imagine everyday being Monday, you would miss the joy of knowing what Fridays are like.

You know like, receiving your paycheck after your work week. Looking forward to enjoying the weekend and spending time with your family and friends. Getting some much needed rest and sleep that you desired from Monday.

Well today in continuing our series from A- Z, I want to reflect on the word 'season'. either you are approaching a new season, in a season, or coming out of a season.
Regardless of your state are surrounded by it.

Season :
1. A recurrent period characterized by certain occurrences, occupations, festivities, or
crops: the holiday season; tomato season.
2. A suitable, natural, or convenient time: a season for merriment.
3. A period of time: gone for a season.

"A word out of season may mar a whole lifetime"
Greek Proverb

In recent times we have seen some unusual things happening on the face of the earth. One thing I know is that seasons don’t last long. "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:" Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV) So if you want to make the best out of it you must move quickly and be efficient.

Spring, summer, autumn, winter. Easter, thanksgiving, christmas. Baseball, football, basketball, soccer and so on. All these relate to various seasons that we know about.

How many times have you been waiting on a particular season and because you were unprepared it came and slipped right past. If you are going to get the best results you must prepare before the season begins.

You must take on the mindset of a farmer. Preparing the ground is a must if you are going to expect a good harvest. Your seeds must be sown in good ground. I know you will sow what you reap, but WHERE you sow is important. This will determine if your season will be one of joy or regret.

Even in hard times you can have fruits to sustain you if you did what was right. So what does it take to have a good season? How is it that some people blossom during or after a bad season? "1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper." Ps. 1:1-3 (KJV)

Life will take you through many seasons but make sure in the end you are left with fruit from the right tree. "….To him who overcomes (is victorious), I will grant to eat [of the fruit] of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God." Revelation 2:7 (Amplified Bible)

Lord Jesus be merciful to me a sinner. I realize that I have sinned against you and come
short of your glory. I confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and I believe in my heart that God has raised him from the dead. I pray for your forgiveness and ask that you save me now and accept me into your kingdom. Give me eternal life today.

Issue # 28 - Who’s ‘R’ ?

"Don’t blame me it wasn’t my fault". How many times have you heard this over your life span? It sure is a common phrase wherever you go. Why don’t you put it to a test. Check to see how many times you will hear this in a given week.

The only thing I want to know then is, who’s fault is it? With so many things being neglected today why are we surprised at what goes on in our society, nation or world? So often we see or even become a part of the blame game.

We make sure that fingers are not left pointing at us. No matter how big or small the situation is we don’t want to be looked at as the negative factor in the equation. Who wants to be labeled as the party pooper aye?

To get to the bottom of this we must find out who’s…….'responsible' . So that’s why we are putting the letter 'R' on the stand to see if he can tell us as we continue in this series From A-Z.

Responsible:
1. Liable to be required to give account, as of one's actions or of the discharge of a duty or trust.
2. Being a source or cause.

"None of us are responsible for all the things that happen to us, but we are responsible for the way we act when they do happen."
Author Unknown

I’m sure you’ve seen court cases where judges and jurors have to decide who’s at fault. You know sometimes this can be a difficult task, especially when person’s testimony is not credible and Mr. Lie gets involved. Very few people own up to their responsibility and are willing to take the blame to bring peace and healing.

One thing is for sure though, truth is not nervous on the witness stand. Even if the world is against him, he will tell the whole story.

Look at this, a man decides to be punished for all the wrong that others did. Should he do this though? He’s not at fault Why is he doing this then? He wanted to clean up the mess that was in the world. The sad thing about this? Many show no gratitude for this act of love & kindness. How do you think this makes Jesus feel?

The following is a collection of actual excuses for missing school that were turned in by students and reported by Seventeen magazine.

My son is under a doctor’s care and could not take P.E. yesterday. Please execute him.

Please excuse Cynthia for being absent. She was sick and I had her shot.

Please excuse Tom for being absent on Jan. 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, and 33.

Please excuse Timothy for being absent last week. He could not talk because of Larry and Gitus.

Please excuse Robert for being absent. He had a cold and could not breed well.

All sorts of excuses can be found for things that you do. Some are legitimate, some are not. Sooner or later you have to take responsibility for who you are and what you do. You can’t keep blaming your behavior on someone or something else.

When you stand before God, no excuse from your mother or anyone else will do. "If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin" John 15:22 (NIV).

Jesus is our excuse that’s why he came. He is the note that gets us off the hook. Finally, you know what’s okay with God ? “Please excuse (your name here), he belongs to me.”

Why does water not calm the tongue after eating hot spicy food?
The spices in most of the hot foods that we eat are oily, and, like your elementary school science teacher taught you, oil and water don't mix. In this case, the water just rolls over the oily spices.
What can you do to calm your aching tongue? Eat bread. The bread will absorb the oily spices. A second solution is to drink milk. Milk contains a substance called "casein" which will bind to the spices and carry them away. Alcohol also dissolves oily spices.
