Issue # 27 - What’s your I ‘Q’ ?

Here’s a story I found very interesting with real life comparisons. Imagine this, a group of thieves broke into a jewelry store one night. What did they steal? Here’s the strange thing about this story, all they did was switched all the price tags.

The following day, no one could tell what was valuable and what was cheap. The expensive jewels had suddenly become cheap, and the costume jewelry, which had been virtually worthless before, was suddenly of great value. Customers who thought they were purchasing valuable gems were getting fakes. Those who couldn't afford the higher priced items were leaving the store with treasures.

Well today as our series From A - Z continues, I bring to the forefront the letter 'Q'.
It’s now time for 'quality'. Are you getting quality for your money?

Quality:
1. A distinctive element.
2. High style in quality, manner, or dress
3. Degree of excellence.
4. Exceptionally good of its kind.

"Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of intelligent effort"
John Ruskin

What if I asked you if everything in life has a value on it? O.K., what I really would like to know then is does each of these match up to it’s value?

You walk into the food store to pick up an item and you notice the price went up. But wait a minute that’s not the only surprise. Through close observation you notice that the size of it has been reduced.

Wow! First the price goes up and then a smaller product. Today so many claims are being made by people and companies about their products or service. Poor quality customer service, poor quality product , poor quality work, are often the areas you hear complaints about.

Whatever you purchase in life, I’m sure you want the best quality product. I rally don’t blame you, cause there is nothing wrong with getting your money’s worth. In these days and times more people want your money, but what are they offering you? This means you have to be more and more alert to scams and con artist.

Meanwhile, back to our opening story about the jewelry store thieves. I want you to know, in our world someone also came in and switched all the price tags. It isn’t easy telling what is of value and quality and what is not. The world puts a high price tag on popularity, prestige, beauty, fame, accumulation of material wealth and the power that goes with it.

In return, they also make it appear that things pertaining to God aren’t that important and therefore don’t see them as of great value. In the only "jewelry store" that matters: the kingdom of God, remember Jesus taught us that the real truth behind the accumulation of wealth is virtually worthless. "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:" Matthew 6:19(KJV). Well you know if Jesus gave you a warning he will also give you some words of advice .And what is that you ask? "But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:" Matthew 6:20 (KJV)

I pray as the people of America go to the polls that the candidate of their choice be a man of good quality.

"The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves".

Issue # 26 - Time for some sweet ‘P’

Each day, month, year we should be aiming to do something to advance our lives. I want you to know that there are certain methods and strategies that are beneficial to this process. Some ways can be alternated for better results and others must be implemented in the order in which it is set.

As our series From A - Z continues, this week we have arrived at the letter sweet ‘P’. Today we will take a twist from the norm and look at 4P’s that are beneficial to your life.

Here are 4 P’s things you should do before you set out to do anything:-

1. Pray - It shows God that you want to be dependant on him and desire him to be a part of your life’s venture. Bear in mind he knows the way you ought to go because he made the path for you. It puts the enemy on notice that you and God are about to make a move and he better watch out.

Prayer is the chamber where you go to God for consultation. God loves it when people want his attention. It’s like setting the firm foundation to build on. It is a hard thing to build something and lose it because we didn’t invite God in on the matter. "5
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths" . Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV).So for lasting results make sure you start here.

2. Plan - This is where you intend to layout the intend route or path to get to your destination or have your need met. Through this phase you will have to find out what’s needed and how much of it. The basic areas are people, material, resources and average time span.

Plans are very important if you want to build properly. It’s the place where all the lines of your dream or life’s blueprint come together. This is where you map out in detail from start to finish. "For I know the plans I have for you,"declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future". Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

This is very important especially where other persons have to be involved. Even in cases where many copies are needed, you will notice the diagram stays the same. Change one dimension and you offset many things. So be very careful who you have looking at the blueprint for your life.

3.Perform - Your plans have been approved, Great! You know where you are going, what you need and how long it’s going to take. So what’s next? It’s time to get to work.

This is where you get to carry out the duty or task. Begin to sing, dance, do business, build and the likes. If you want, you can post up a picture of your project with the headline "Coming Soon".

Bear in mind you will not get the support of everyone because not all wants to see you succeed. You must be alert during your building process. You will encounter opposition but be determined to build to completion. "So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows" . Psalm 61:8 (KJV)

4. Praise - You’ve just completed building one of your most desired dreams/ projects. You’ve prayed, planned, performed and now it’s all done.

Not so fast my friend, you need to put the seal on things.

You can’t do all that work and not celebrate. First, praise must go out to God who gave you the desire to do this and thank him for being your consultant every step of the way.

Then there are those who believed enough to support your venture, family, friends, and all who gave a helping hand in any way. Finally, you, yes YOU. You allowed God to use you to be a blessing to others. Whether what you’ve built will benefit 1-10 persons or more it was for a just cause. Now go ahead pat yourself on the back. Mission Accomplished. "Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" Psalm 107:8 (KJV)

Issue # 25 - ‘O’ What a relief

As we move on to the later part of this year and the times to come more uncertain things and events are happening. Things we have never heard of or experienced. If you are paying attention to what is going on in the earth, tragedy is happening at a much faster rate. Destruction is happening all around us and no group is being left untouched in some way.

In the midst of all this, there is something that is very important that must be a part of your survival tool box. In these last days you need something that is going to help you look these things in the face with hope.

Today, tragedy may be at my house and tomorrow he finds himself visiting your house. Last time we looked at the word news, let me tell you bad news does not discriminate. Loss of jobs, labor disputes, recession, companies closing down, cost of living rising, increasing social ills, etc.

The best key for these issues is to be optimistic. Believe it or not that’s the key word for today. That’s one reason to appreciate the letter 'O'.

Optimistic:
1. Inclined to hope for the best, or to expect it.
2. Predicting improvement.
3. Believing positively.

"Few things in the world are more powerful than a positive push. A smile. A word of optimism and hope. A "you can do it" when things are tough".
Richard M. DeVos

According to a special report to CNN from Mayo Clinic, researchers continue to explore the effects of optimism on health. The health benefits optimism may provide are:

  • Decreased stress
  • Greater resistance to catching the common cold
  • A sense of well-being and improved health
  • Reduced risk of coronary artery disease
  • Breathing easier if you have chronic obstructive lung disease, such as emphysema
  • Improved coping ability for women with high-risk pregnancies
  • Living longer
  • Better coping skills

It's unclear why optimists experience these health benefits. But one theory is that having a positive outlook enables you to cope better with stressful situations, which reduces the effects of stress on your body.

You Will Succeed At Everything You Do

What if you were able to see these words flash before you today? How would you feel? Will it give you a different outlook toward your situation and life? Would that cause you to attempt to do more things? Well then, it goes to show you that you do believe that you can have success. So affirmation is important.

Why do you get out of bed each day? It is because you are believing to see a better situation and life? Just to get out of bed each day takes strength and courage, especially when you had a dark night.

It’s not that easy to see hope and be optimistic when all you see is darkness or a dry environment. Thank God for the power to envision, this enables you to see with the eyes of God.

Imagine hearing the words it’s going to rain when you don’t see any clouds, or you are healed when pain is rocking your body and your health is failing, God shall supply all your needs when your needs list increases everyday.

Yes I understand negative thoughts and images will bombard you but you must still keep getting up out of bed. The minute you let your mind influence you to stop being optimistic, you are on your way to defeat.

Since you can only have one thought at a time, here are some affirmations to keep your thoughts positive:

  • I always have a choice.
  • Anything is possible.
  • I create my circumstances, my circumstances don't create me.
  • I can control my attitude towards life.
  • Look at the little things in life that are good and it will make your life a WHOLE lot better.

Before you win anything in life, you win it in your mind first. So don’t let the enemy allow you to switch channel. Keep watching the film that God is showing you and eventually it will manifest. "For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry". (Habakkuk 2:3)

No matter what the environment is around you, I’m sure you would rather be hanging on by the threads than not to be hanging on at all.
