Time 2 Go 4 It

Approximately 74,000 fans packed Miami Dolphin’s arena on Sunday February 7th 2010 to see the Indianapolis Colts battle the New Orleans Saints for Super Bowl XLIV. In addition to that,
millions viewed by television, and the internet.

These two teams went after a major title in the sports world, but only one came out on top. Both of them did well throughout the regular season but it wasn’t necessarily easy as each week they had to fight off opponents.

Now it was one more opponent standing between them and this major goal. Both of them realize that in order to win they had to show up and play their hearts out. I believe as game time draw near coaches and players motivated and encouraged their team by saying “It’s Time To Go For It.” I’ll get back to that in a minute.

I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.
Philippians 3:14 (Amplified Bible)

As you and I embrace this new decade God has placed a major goal before you. But are you going to take advantage of the opportunity. That word press means that you will have opposing forces.

In the midst of opposing forces I tell you “It’s time to go for it”. If you set it you can get it. Your greatest enemy is not the devil, coworkers, family, boss. I don’t regret telling you this but YOU are your greatest enemy. Why do I say that? Cause any time God put something in your heart YOU make up excuses, you procrastinate, you say I’ll do it later, you I can’t get no help. Then when you don’t perform or get it you blame everybody else.

I want to help you with 6 things that can help you Go for it :

1. Readjust- There are times when you just have to take another approach and shift, change direction, try another method in order to get the results you need.

2. Reset – I’m sure you are familiar with losing power at home which means that you have to reset your clock. This is important if you are going to keep up with the timing of society. Even more important spiritually is to be able to keep up with God’s time flow.

3. Reflect – look at where you came from. This is what gives you the strength to face the challenges you now face cause if God did it before he can do it again.

4. Refocus - With so may distractions and temptations around you need something that will help you get back on course. Nothing better than the Word of God.

5. Renew – Yes that same feeling you get after taking a bath or shower. It makes you feel new, clean, fresh and ready to go again. The renewing of your mind is important to get your thinking on the right track.

6. Rejoice- In order to keep your joy in life you have to celebrate. Life will have many disappointments but you have to stir up the strength and find a reason to rejoice.

Meanwhile back to the Super Bowl XLIV, New Orleans Saints first time in and a new opportunity to make history for their city and State. Initially down by 10 points and not being the favored team can be a challenge. You have to love the fighting spirit of this team as they didn’t let a slow start stop them. A great team effort from The Who Dat Nation lead by quarterback Drew Brees.

So what exactly am I saying? I expect God to bring you into some first time opportunities this year. When the opportuItalicnity comes “Go 4 It”, every one will know your name when they ask the question “Who Dat?”

Lord Jesus be merciful to me a sinner. I realize that I have sinned against you and come short of your glory. Issue # 16 - What’s standing between you and your ‘G’ ?

From A - Z… the series continues, letter 'G'

Everyone of us desires to get to a certain destination before we leave this side of heaven. All to often many don’t try hard enough to get to that desired place. If everything was that easy in life everyone would accomplish anything. Only those that really persevere will get where they want to go.
Obstacles can cause you to respond in many ways. They will either make you or break you. Think about the last obstacle you faced. I’m sure you were faced with one of these emotions fear, weariness, sadness, discouragement, doubt, sympathy.

After being faced with one or more of these you were probably given the opportunity to stop trying, give up, cry, grumble, stay by yourself or run away. All these come in an effort to get you to take your focus off your intended end. You know them as distractions. Today the letter 'G' is asking what’s standing between you and your 'goals' ?

Goals:
1. The purpose toward which an endeavor is directed; an objective.
2. What one intends to do or achieve.
3. The end point toward which effort is directed.

"It is hard to begin to move when you don't know where you are moving, how to move, or if you are going to get there."
Peter Nivio Zarlenga

Goals should be a common thing in various sectors of our lives. From individual goals, family, school/college, work, church, organization, national. Therefore some things should be standard.

What are you aiming for ?

success, new career, better grades, car, house, more knowledge, college ,business, excellence, more loving, know God, fulfill your purpose, be a better friend, unselfish, get married, be healthier, more prosperous, learn a new language.

After the great desire and telling others you need to WRITE IT DOWN. It doesn’t matter if you know it frontward, backward, upside down, inside out still write it down. There is power in writing down your goals. "2..,Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry". Habakkuk 2:2-3 ( KJV). In this way you can track your progress from start to finish.

How did you get more familiar with your school or company goals? You saw it in writing. Every proper organization will have it’s goals written out. This helps to make sure everyone knows what bulls eye we are aiming for.

If you are serious about where you want to go you will write it down. Here’s some information to think about.
*Study finds goal setting profitable:
In the book titled, "Look Within or Do Without" by Tom Bay, Harvard Business School did a study on the financial status of its students 10 years after graduation and found that:

• As many as 27% of them needed financial assistance
• A whopping 60% of them were living paycheck to paycheck
• A mere 10% of them were living comfortably
• And only 3% of them were financially independent

The study also looked at goal setting and found these interesting correlations.

• The 27% that needed financial assistance had absolutely no goal setting process in their lives
• The 60% that were living paycheck to paycheck had basic survival goals; such as managing to live paycheck to paycheck
• The 10% that were living comfortably had general goals. They thought they knew where they were going to be in the next five years
• The 3% that were financially independent had written out their goals and the steps required to reach them

This simple process helps you to be more focused and discipline. How? Anything that doesn’t match what you have written and are aiming for you don’t need to be wasting time doing or being a part of. Anything not associated with keeping your eye on the mark is a distraction.

Do you think goals are important? Do you have any goals? If you don’t want to go anywhere then don’t plan. If you have read this far I believe you do and that’s why I am encouraging you to put it in writing and follow through.

Is the reason why you are not accomplishing anything, or hitting any bulls eye because you are not aiming for anything? Even when you miss that’s better than nothing because you can adjust your attempt and try again.

If you haven’t been aiming- it’s time to AIM.

If you have been aiming for a long time - it’s time to FIRE.

Been firing a long time & missing - it’s time to HIT the bulls eye.

Please don’t let procrastination win over you again.
