Issue # 17 - Are you keeping your ‘H’ in order?

From A - Z… the series continues, letter ‘H’

Taking care of this will determine how far you get in life. I’m sure you want to get very far. When this thing takes a downward turn it can affect your whole being. Bear in mind many times you go day after day and neglect your responsibility toward this.

Anything that needs attention and keeps getting ignored will one day speak up and tell you about it. The sad thing about it? It may take a serious amount of work and effort to restore it back to the place where it is most happy. And even worse, sometimes it is too late for anything to be done.

The letter ‘H’ wants to make sure you don’t end up in this state. Many are wishing they took the time to properly give attention to this. Are you keeping your ‘health’ in check? “Health is not valued till sickness comes” - Dr. Thomas Fuller.

Health:
1.physical, mental wellness.
2.Soundness, especially of body or mind; freedom from disease or abnormality.

I feel fine. Why should I go to the doctor?

Heart disease is the leading cause of death and disability in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In 2008, a projected 770,000 Americans will have a new coronary attack, and 430,000 will have a recurrent one. This estimate translates into a coronary event about every 26 seconds and a death every minute.

One of the reasons behind these high numbers is the continuing lack of information. Many people don't grasp their risk. They also tend to imagine heart attack symptoms like those in the movies -- sudden and intense pain, often shooting up the arm and gripping the chest. But most start slowly, with mild pain or discomfort, and people often fail to realize what is happening and wait too long to get help

What if there was something simple you could do every day that would burn calories, be good for your heart, and help you stay young. You'd do it, right?

In a recent study conducted at Duke University Medical Center, researchers found that walking briskly for 30 minutes every day lowers your odds of developing metabolic syndrome, a cluster of risk factors linked to higher risks of heart disease, diabetes, and stroke. Roughly 24 million women in the United States have metabolic syndrome.

Don't have time for a daily half-hour walk? Try multitasking: A British study found that active commuting (incorporating walking and cycling into your sedentary commute) is associated with an 11 percent reduction in heart-disease risk, especially among women. "A man's health can be judged by which he takes two at a time -- pills or stairs." - Joan Welsh

Today there is more knowledge at your fingertips than you can handle. So there is no excuse for us to be ignorant to your well being. With this said, why do we struggle with this issue of health though? It has to be because of decision with what we do and consume. Are you ready to face eternity? If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of your life and desire to make that commitment now please repeat the following prayer:

Lord Jesus be merciful to me a sinner. I realize that I have sinned against you and come short of your glory. I confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and I believe in my heart that God has raised him from the dead. I pray for your forgiveness and ask that you save me now and accept me into your kingdom. Give me eternal life today.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
