Issue # 37 – ‘Y’ aren’t you doing this?

So many things you think about each day. Your mind is racing at a high rate of speed but in different directions. The question is which one of these thoughts or ideas are you going to give in to?

What I am about to address today in our series A-Z is a big issue in the lives many. You may find a few areas in your life that this relates to. Today we bring out the big 'Y'. It’s not the question why but the letter 'y' which produces the word 'yield'. Now this may be a tough one to go through but if you would put down your defense you should get some good results in life.

Yield:
1.To let (something) go.
2.To give up a possession, claim, or right; hand over.
3.To cease opposition, give in.
4.To conform to the will or judgment of another, especially out of respect or courtesy.

What do you think about when you hear this word? Are you like most persons that think this is an act of weakness? When you are of this mind set what actually happens is you are fighting with your ego and a proud spirit. When you cannot yield to the right and proper things then you will have a big struggle throughout your life.

You drive along the busy intersection downtown and standing in the middle you see a police officer signaling you to stop. “Oh, no he’s not meaning me” so you aim to drive straight by even after he passionately aims to get you to stop. Let’s look at two things that could result from this. You are hit by another vehicle crossing and you could face charges for refusing to yield and obey the law officer.

Either way, you would regret the action of not stopping. This is only one example of what can happen when you refuse to yield. You will pay a price for not yielding.
We have the opportunity to yield too many authorities in life, parents, teachers, supervisors, law officers, etc. When you yield according to God’s will, you demonstrate that you value order. This is how you add favor and preferential treatment to your life.

Look at most of the persons you know that have a problem with yielding or submitting to authority. Now look at the position that they are in. I’m sure you would agree that they could have been in a better position.

We like to be in authority but how you respond when you are under authority shows real character, conduct and respect. Always remember how you treat figures of authority will reflect back on your life when you are given authority.

God and the devil are in need of vessels to use but you still have a choice who you will yield your members to. “Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God”. Romans 6:13 (KJV)

We are living in a generation that has come to know the saying “have it your way”. My friend, this is not applicable in every situation, because most persons who did this have caused chaos and are living in regret. You will never find God’s will on the road to your way.

Yielding to the right and proper things demonstrate that you know how to be disciplined and respect order. God does not want to approve your plans; He wants your approval of His plans, and He wants you to yield to them.

Are you ready to face eternity? If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of your life and desire to make that commitment now please repeat the following prayer:

Lord Jesus be merciful to me a sinner. I realize that I have sinned against you and come
short of your glory. I confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and I believe in my heart that God has raised him from the dead. I pray for your forgiveness and ask that you save me now and accept me into your kingdom. Give me eternal life today.
In Jesus Name, Amen.

Coming next………………letter 'Z'
