Issue # 35 -Do you like the big ‘W’ ?

As we speed on in this series A-Z. I am sure you have had some experience with this next word I am about to introduce you to.

Whether you have waited for a few moments, days, weeks, or years. It doesn’t matter how much experience you have had with it, there are still times when you have to face it that it still can be challenging.

We now arrive at the word 'wait'. Before we move on let’s take a few meanings of this word.

Wait :
1.To remain or rest in expectation.
2.To tarry until another catches up.
3.To remain or be in readiness.
4.To remain temporarily neglected, unattended to, or postponed.

Each day our lives is met with some situations where we have to wait. For some it may start very early in the morning as you as you have to wait to use the bathroom. Waiting on someone to get ready as you leave your house or waiting for your ride to pick you up.

How about waiting in traffic, waiting on line in a business place, waiting in the doctor or dentist office. Waiting for someone to answer the phone on a very important call. Waiting for lunch time to come so you can take a break only to wait again before you can get your lunch.

What about the situations when it’s more difficult? Waiting on a response to the many jobs you applied for. Waiting on some very important documents so you can move ahead in your life. Waiting for your flight to leave after it has been delayed a few times. Waiting on a doctor’s report after you or a family member has fallen ill. Waiting on something that you know God has for you.

There is something mentioned above that you can identify with. The main thing about this message is not about being able to identify, but our response and attitude in these situations. I believe we go through these things for a reason. How is it that some people can wait for a while and be at peace, while others who have to wait for a moment become agitated ?

I believe the attitude in how we wait can dictate to how long we wait. Impatience, grumbling and complaining will cost you, either now or in the long run. You will be driven to move out of place because of your impatience.

By the way, what are you doing while you wait? Even waiting calls for you to do something. This is for those who want to live above average and do it in the shortest time possible.

Many people focus a lot of their attention on why they have to be the one waiting and other distracting thoughts. All this can lead to idle time if the truth be told all of us have to wait.

Well then how about using your time to empower yourself or someone. It’s all about time management. Every situation in life is unique even though some may appear to be repetitious. Imagine while you are waiting you are using your mind to now layout your paths for the next phase or chapter in your life.

There’s nothing wrong with advanced planning. Remember I said this is for those who want to do things in the shortest time possible. Well this will help towards that. Reading a good book, listening to an inspirational CD, learning a new language, praying etc. All this can help you while you wait.

And remember the next option, help someone. I’m sure there is someone around you that you can share and receive from. Anything from advice, the latest news, testimony, personal goals, learn a skill. All of a sudden as you are doing one of these you hear next, as others try to get your attention. The wait is over as you are surprised at how fast time went by.

Even in waiting you can enjoy the moment. So would you rather be grumbling and complaining about how long you have to wait or make an enjoyable adventure. Anyone who really discovers and uses the secrets of occupying yourself while waiting will find out that the wait won’t be long.

“Next in line please,” well it’s now your time to be served.

Are you ready to face eternity? If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of your life and desire to make that commitment now please repeat the following prayer:

Lord Jesus be merciful to me a sinner. I realize that I have sinned against you and come short of your glory. I confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and I believe in my heart that God has raised him from the dead. I pray for your forgiveness and ask that you save me now and accept me into your kingdom. Give me eternal life today.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
